Voltaria Limited is a battery energy storage (BES) developer and asset owner which is constructing BESS projects with a target portfolio of at least 500MW of BES assets in the UK over the next 5 years. We have developed a pipeline of grid scale energy storage projects and our projects will provide vital balancing services to National Grid as we move towards Net Zero. Our batteries provide flexibility in power markets which are vital to facilitate a more robust grid network and allow more renewable generation to the UK power mix. Voltaria is led by an experienced and capable team that will grow further as we increase the number of projects under construction.

Voltaria is owned by Renewables Infrastructure Capital LLP (RIC) and Management. We genuinely and passionately believe in the need for a rapid global energy transition to carbon neutral and carbon negative energy. Our collective experience already spans more than 50 years in the UK renewables sector and Voltaria is here to actively negate the effects of climate change. As a result in 2021 Voltaria was founded.

RIC found a like-minded approach in Nigel Jefferson's vision for contributing to UK Net Zero and enthusiastically welcomed him to lead the journey as CEO. We all believe that batteries are a crucial element of the UK renewables infrastructure mix and are required to facilitate much higher proportions of intermittent wind and solar electricity generation. This infrastructure is what will really enable the UK to achieve its Net Zero targets as soon as possible. Without flexible energy storage, no amount of intermittent renewable generation can satisfy the UK's energy requirements.

We are committed to both developing viable battery projects and also to delivering and operating the batteries in the electricity market to maximise Voltaria's energy transition impact.
