What we hold, why we hold it, and how to object.
This notice explains how personal data is handled on the Planyard UK Construction Network. It sits alongside how the directory is compiled and the removals policy.
The directory is published by Planyard, the controller for the data described here. Questions and requests go to the forms linked from this page, which reach the team that maintains the directory.
Most of what appears here is company information rather than personal data: registered names, company numbers, registered office addresses, SIC codes and figures from filed accounts, all from Companies House under the Open Government Licence.
Some of it can be personal data. A registered office is sometimes a home address. A contact address published on a company website is personal data when it identifies an individual rather than a role. We collect only what a company has already published on its own public website, or what Companies House publishes; we do not buy data, and we do not collect anything from behind a login.
We rely on legitimate interests: running a directory that helps people find and check UK construction companies, using information those companies have already made public about their businesses. We have weighed this against the interests of the people concerned, which is why contact details are limited to business roles wherever we can tell the difference, and why anything can be removed on request.
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and object to us publishing it at all. We do not require you to explain why. If you object to your details appearing, we will remove them rather than argue the point.

Company records are kept while the company exists on the register. Anything removed at a person's request is not re-added by a later refresh.
We use Google Analytics to see which parts of the directory are useful, and nothing else: no advertising scripts, no profiling, no data passed on to anyone who would sell it. It is not loaded at all until you accept it, so declining the notice, or ignoring it, leaves no analytics cookies in your browser and sends nothing to Google. You can change that choice at any time with the Cookies link at the foot of any page.
If you do accept, Google Analytics stores identifiers in your browser so a returning visit can be recognised, and Google processes the resulting usage data on our behalf. Search runs in your browser against files served from this site, with no third party involved. Company logos and photographs are loaded from the companies' own websites, so those sites can see that a request was made.
