Thompson Construction was founded in 2014 by brothers Chris & James, who had previously worked as tradesmen and managers for contractors around Yorkshire. Their aim was to be the best, not necessarily the biggest, contractor in the city. They specialise in Design & Build projects, taking on the entire construction process to relieve stress for the client.
They also undertake refurbishments and new build residential projects, priding themselves on professionalism and listening to the client's vision. They have extensive experience working on impressive refurbs and developments for clients such as Arco, Motor Depot, and Rradar Hull, as well as industrial units and building conversions. As principal contractors, they manage the whole project from start to finish and maintain strong relationships with architects, designers, and repeat clients across various sectors.
Their approach ensures high standards of workmanship and client satisfaction, with a focus on delivering projects on time and within budget.
Extension to existing storage warehouse to house new fleet of electric powered forklifts. Challenges included overhead power lines, high water tables, untraced drainage runs and site levels. Main works consisted of steel frame with composite cladding, new up & over doors and power floated floor. Piling was required due to bad ground, along with ground beam reinforcement and slab reinforcement. Internally, the split from old to new had to be 1 hour fire protected due to the end use of the building to charge electric vehicles.
