Hopkins Energy successfully delivered the full electrical installation works for ABB Automation's new ship‑to‑shore charging system at Portsmouth International Port, a landmark project supporting the UK's transition toward cleaner, low‑carbon maritime operations. This innovative infrastructure enables vessels to connect directly to the local electricity grid while docked, eliminating the need for onboard diesel generators. By providing reliable shore power (also known as cold ironing), the port can significantly cut emissions, improve local air quality, and support wider Net Zero ambitions.

Glengall Road Student Accommodation, London

Glengall Road, known as Robeson House is a 676-bed hall of residence developed in collaboration with EQUANS and The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Located just off Old Kent Road in London and adjacent to the 56-hectare Burgess Park, the building rises to 15 storeys in a stepped configuration. Purpose-built to serve LSE graduate students, it offers a vibrant and inspiring living environment within easy reach of the university's Aldwych campus. Hopkins Major Projects was appointed to deliver the full mechanical and electrical installation, encompassing: • Low Temperature Hot Water (LTHW) heating systems • Domestic water services • Ventilation infrastructure • Power distribution and lighting • Integrated SMART building technologies

Cosham Fire Station

Cosham, Portsmouth, Hampshire

Cosham Fire Station is a new, purpose-built facility for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS), located on Northern Road in Cosham, Portsmouth, Hampshire. This project forms part of a broader station investment programme by HIWFRS, which also includes the recently completed Bishop's Waltham Fire Station (delivered by Hopkins in January 2023) and a state-of-the-art live fire training facility at the service's headquarters in Eastleigh. These developments are vital to meeting modern operational requirements, supporting larger emergency vehicles, and enhancing training capabilities. The Cosham station includes three appliance bays, dedicated training areas, fitness facilities, office and administration spaces, accommodation, catering provisions and a training tower.

Butlins Playxperience, Bognor Regis

Bognor Regis

This new activity centre spans two floors, encompassing nearly 50,000 square feet. The immersive indoor hub offers nine state-of-the-art experiences, including Tech Putt, Escape Rooms, VR-cade, Glow Pong, Shuffleboard, Laser Tag, Batting Cages, Neo Games and Digi Darts. Playxperience also includes a café and bar area, as well as changing rooms and restrooms. Hopkins' works also included a fully automated ventilation, heating, and cooling system that reacts to variations in building occupancy, the installation of 'Changing Places' facilities, integrated standard and decorative lighting systems with full control, a whole-building sound system with independently zoned areas and a fully integrated PA/VA system, and the unification of multiple franchises into one combined, streamlined system.

Pathology Lab, Royal Bournemouth Hospital

Our M&E solutions ensured that the facility meets the highest standards for healthcare environments, providing efficient, reliable, and future-proofed building services.

Enderby Battery Storage

Hopkins Energy successfully completed the Enderby Battery Storage Project, installing 16 new CATL BESS units and reconfiguring existing Sungrow units to ensure compatibility with the Sungrow Power Conversion System (PCS). The project involved retaining Sungrow BESS units in their original positions while disconnecting and replacing outdated DC and communication cabling. Trenching, ducting, and new cabling were installed to connect these units to updated PCS locations. For the new CATL BESS units, the team prepared the ground, installed 16 concrete plinths, laid trackways, and implemented a new earthing system. Auxiliary power and communication cabling were also installed and tested. Hopkins Energy reviewed and updated the electrical design to ensure compatibility, installing three new LV feeder pillars and updating auxiliary power connections. Comprehensive testing was completed to verify functionality. Throughout the works, 24/7 site security was in place to safeguard equipment and maintain safety.

Penwortham Battery Storage

Hopkins Energy successfully completed the Penwortham Battery Storage project, involving the installation of new CATL Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) units and relocation of existing Sungrow BESS units. Gresham House oversaw equipment delivery and commissioning. Key activities included reconfiguring cabling, removing PCS units 1-8, and updating connections from battery containers 2-8 to PCS units 9-15. The CATL BESS installation involved preparing ground, installing concrete plinths, positioning BESS and auxiliary cabinets, stabilising with shingle, and constructing trackways. Cable management covered laying and terminating DC, auxiliary, and communications cabling, along with installing a new earthing system. HV services were reconfigured, and new cabling was installed for PCS and auxiliary connections. Hopkins Energy conducted testing on all new cabling, while Gresham House commissioned BESS systems and communications. Site security measures were implemented to safeguard equipment and ensure safety throughout the project.

The Pelham Street development in Brighton features 135 Residential apartments comprising of a mixture of one, two and three bedroom apartments, as well as four family townhouses.

Hounslow Infills

Hounslow

The development comprises of 4 infill site locations in Hounslow for the local Council. The designs of each development are aiming to achieve a high level of sustainability . The homes are each designed to utilise simple, but effective construction techniques to minimise heat loss and maximise efficiency, as well as low carbon technologies including air source heat pumps, increased insulation and photovoltaic panels. The design is to support the council in reducing its carbon emissions to net zero by 2030. Orchard Road, a scheme of 5 affordable homes using a design which aims to exceed the London Energy Transformation Initiative. The Everglades, an infill development which will provide 33 homes across three residential buildings, all of which sit within an existing estate. Clements Court, a project which will create 74 high quality homes as well as a large amenity space in the centre of the estate for new and existing residents. Rose Gardens, a scheme of 42 homes created through the demolition of two apartment blocks and a series of garages on an existing estate.
