Wessex Reserve Forces' and Cadets' Association (Wessex RFCA) is an independent, statutory body that supports, promotes, and champions the Volunteer Reserve Forces of the Royal Navy, Army, and Royal Air Force, along with the Cadet Forces across the Wessex region. We play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing and development of local Reserves and Cadets, advocating for the Armed Forces community, and strengthening relationships with employers, civic leaders, and the wider public. The Association supports the Reserve Forces by maintaining facilities, providing welfare support, and assisting with recruitment efforts.
For Cadets, Wessex RFCA provides essential administrative, logistical, and compliance support, including managing resources, safeguarding, and ensuring facilities and equipment are maintained. The organisation also leads on community and employer engagement, building strong relationships between the Armed Forces and the wider public through communications, support for the Armed Forces Covenant, and delivery of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. Wessex RFCA also plays a key role in supporting and sustaining the Volunteer Estate, working closely with contractors to ensure high standards are maintained.
The Estates team is responsible for assuring the quality and effectiveness of services, overseeing fault reporting, statutory inspections, repairs, and condition surveys. The Association receives funding from central government, complemented by regionally generated income which supports estate development, community engagement, and welfare grants.
