VCWP transforms the experience of veterans suffering from isolation or mental health issues by bringing them together to work on creative, restorative outdoor projects. By encouraging mindful connections to the natural world, with a range of practical and creative skills, veterans help and support each other whilst transforming outdoor spaces for organisations and individuals. In exchange for these endeavours, organisations or landowners provide accommodation and space for veterans to gather, peer mentor, learn new skills, take time out, and focus on their well-being.
VCWP provides supervision, training, and project management to ensure projects run well. The organisation was launched in January 2023 and has since been involved in various projects, including work at YMCA Lakeside, supporting Scorton Feast, and assisting a local military children's nursery.
