UK Cast Stone Association (UKCSA)

The United Kingdom Cast Stone Association (UKCSA) is the 'Guardian of Quality for Cast Stone' and represents the UK's leading manufacturers. UKCSA sets high performance standards, supported by rigorous testing and quality control, ensuring all Members go through a strict vetting procedure. Belonging to UKCSA assures customers of the quality of products and services, providing credibility and prestige.

The Association has been represented on the British Standards Institution committee that updated the British Standard for Cast Stone, BS 1217, and has also been involved in reviews of BS 5642 Parts 1 and 2. UKCSA has also assisted National Building Specification in producing technical clauses and is currently involved with the European Standards body CEN technical committee in a review of glassfibre reinforcing standards. Cast stone is a versatile material ideal for architectural and ornamental stonework, capable of forming complex shapes.

It is regularly used for dressings around openings in buildings, such as window surrounds, lintels, heads, cills, keystones, and door surrounds. It is also used for external walls, including string courses, band courses, plinth courses, masonry blocks, and quoins. Many manufacturers maintain extensive mould libraries for standard details, allowing designers to achieve desired aesthetics efficiently.
