Tawd Valley Developments is a community-focused property development company dedicated to building high-quality affordable homes where people can thrive. As a wholly owned subsidiary of West Lancashire Borough Council, any profits generated are reinvested into services that benefit the local communities of West Lancashire. Since commencing development activities in 2020, the company has delivered over 150 affordable homes, including Rent to Buy and Shared Ownership schemes.
The company's mission is to develop the highest quality new homes offering the greatest value. Based in Skelmersdale, they plan and develop sites on both brownfield and undeveloped land, catering to various tenures such as affordable rent and open market sale. They aim to address the needs of underserved populations, including larger families and the elderly, by creating purpose-built homes that enhance health and well-being, while also addressing climate change commitments.
Incorporated in June 2018, Tawd Valley Developments began development works in September 2020. They completed Phase 1 of their sites in 2022, delivering 81 new homes under budget. Their largest project to date, Fairlie, introduced affordable home ownership through Rent to Buy and Shared Ownership schemes, proving highly popular.
Fairlie also features 'green' homes utilising MMC, triple ply lining, and triple-glazed windows. The company also supports the Council in strategic planning, including the Skelmersdale Town Centre Master Plan and commercial investments like the Junction 4 Industrial Unit Scheme, contributing to job creation, economic development, and Net Carbon Zero goals.
