About from company website

South Bank Community Land Trust (CLT) was established in 2019 by concerned residents to address empty properties, absent landlords, and a lack of local investment. Working in partnership with local authorities and housing groups, the CLT's primary aim was to acquire and refurbish empty homes to provide safe and secure accommodation for South Bank residents. This initiative also created valuable job opportunities for local people and businesses during the refurbishment phase.

Beyond housing, the CLT operates an Eco-Shop offering affordable groceries donated by Fareshare NE and others, helping families manage costs. They also manage a community allotment, fostering local engagement and providing opportunities for residents to get involved. The organisation is committed to creating employment and training opportunities, having previously worked with local colleges and training providers during their refurbishment projects.

The CLT is a non-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) managed by a board of local directors. Any surplus funds are reinvested for community benefit. They have successfully refurbished five street houses and continue to support the community through their various projects, seeking volunteers and fundraising support to further their mission.
