Sea Street Developments' proposal is a well-designed, sensitive, and appropriate development for an important site in Whitstable. The completed project aims to greatly enhance the attractiveness of the area, bringing considerable benefit to visitors, workers, and residents alike. The development includes new fully accessible public open space with tiered seating and sea views, landscaped areas, and high-quality construction incorporating traditional Whitstable materials.

The project will deliver 8 new family homes (2 and 3 bedrooms) and 7 holiday homes (1 bedroom), alongside a new Café/Commercial Building. Significant highway improvements to Sea Street and a new footway to the Sea Wall are planned to improve public safety. The development also provides on-site parking, cycle storage, a secured landscaped garden, and new public WCs.

It is designed to enhance the Conservation Area and create further employment for local people, with financial contributions to Council Services. The development site comprises two areas, locally known as the 'Oval Chalet' and the 'Tile Warehouse'. The 'Oval Chalet' site, formerly leased by Canterbury City Council for boat storage until 2013, has been unused and overgrown.

The 'Tile Warehouse' site was previously used as a large retail area for tiles, ceasing trading in 2016. The approved scheme is the result of extensive design development, public consultation, and liaison with Canterbury City Council Officers, Kent Highways, and statutory authorities, ensuring all requirements are met and public concerns have led to design refinements.
