Factory Expansion Works

A two phased project to construct two significant factory extensions on at a leading global foam manufacturer to provide 5,800m2 of extra manufacturing and storage space. The extension works took place over two phases to ensure the client could maintain manufacturing throughput for the duration of the project. Following the completion of a 13m high contiguous piled retaining wall the extension works entailed piled foundations followed by a structural steel portal frame. The extensions were clad in a composite Kingspan system with an insulated single ply Firestone roof to keep the building watertight. New services installations included gas radiant and air blown heating, new smart LED lighting systems and provision of new sprinkler system. Internally the existing factory area was re partitioned with new 8m high 1 hour fire rated partitions with internal fire rated shutters and personnel doors.

New corporate head quarters for Impulse Embedded

Port Talbot Renal Unit

Port Talbot Renal Unit

Sandycroft Projects led this scheme on behalf of our client, from inception, through a protracted planning decision, to full completion and the opening of this great new facility. The original building was to be almost fully demolished, salvaging just the floor slab and part of the original steel frame that remained. The whole structure was stabalised, insulated and re-clad to form the new shell of the dialysis unit. The increased outdoor space was developed into a large car park for patients & visitors, along with sensitively planted landscaped areas. The internal was transformed into a modern and deceptively large dialysis clinic. There are 33 treatment stations, including a 5 bed shared self-care area, a 6 bed Home Dialysis training area managed by the Swansea Bay Health Board, and 4 side rooms all with own ensuite WC. This is complimented with a bright and airy reception / waiting area, and fully equipped staffing zone, with changing rooms, WC's, shower, and a break-out space.

The expansion of a live renal unit

The expansion of a live renal unit, to provide an additional 4 treatment bays. The work would involve the moving of critical pieces of infrastructure and re-organizing the current Reception, archive, managers office, clean utility, and patient WC, in order to create the space required.

Client · FRESENIUS MEDICAL CARE

New satellite dialysis unit based in Brackla, Bridgend.

Sandycroft Projects had the main contractor role in this design & build project, to provide a highly specialised kidney dialysis unit for our client and ultimately the patients of Swansea Bay NHS Trust. The original building was 3 retail shops that had, at some point been extended and knocked into one unit for the provision of a gymnasium. However the floors remained at three different levels across the property. Our design team put together a plan to extend the building further within the existing footprint by utilizing the wide overhanging eaves area on two elevations. A highly specified M&E package was designed and installed and the whole building received thermal upgrades in line with current building regulations by providing an insulated roofing system, internally insulated wall linings, and modern energy efficient UPVC & aluminium windows throughout. New services were required, and all liaison and civils works were carried out by Sandycroft to provide as smooth a transition for our client as possible.

Bridgwater Dialysis Unit

Bridgwater Dialysis Unit

Sandycroft built the original Bridgwater Dialysis Unit during the lockdown of 2020/2021 and delivered a high spec 12 station unit, that quickly become popular with patients and the NHS trust. Subsequently, we were approached early in 2025 to engage with our design team to see if there was a way to adapt our original scheme to provide additional treatment space within the same footprint of the unit. A challenge we eagerly accepted.
