Realskillz - The Blacksheep Project CIC

REALSKILLZ operates a learner-driven concept focused on enhancing employability through practical, community-based engagement training and work experience. The model is built around an ethos of learning, embedding values that address social, emotional, behavioural, and well-being needs, alongside good morals. Learners are supported to progress at their own pace in a safe and encouraging environment, preparing them for workplace challenges.

Programmes offer flexibility, from a few hours a day to full-time learning, involving learners in various local projects. Skills taught include demolition, painting, decorating, refurbishment, plaster-boarding, carpentry, gardening, and block laying. Teamwork is central, and learners also develop essential practical skills such as ordering materials, using tools, understanding PPE importance, site awareness, safety, and interacting with peers and the public.

The organisation aims to signpost people to opportunities, promote social inclusion, help community organisations achieve sustainable business models, and provide learners with the tools to succeed. They focus on shaping the formative years of young people by offering variety, engagement, and a relaxed work-like environment with "real" work experience, ultimately enabling individuals to learn and feel the community spirit while building a portfolio of skills for sustainable employment and increasing confidence and motivation.
