Panelox is a sister company to Velox UK, specialising in a panelised version of the Velox building system. This system significantly reduces on-site superstructure build times while maintaining the high energy efficiency, strength, and flexibility of the Velox system. The Velox system, used extensively in Europe since 1956, was introduced to the UK in 2014.
Panelox, launched in late 2022, aims to scale up Velox builds considerably. Panels are manufactured at their Hampshire facility, transported to site, craned into position, fixed, and then the concrete core is poured. This method allows for the superstructure of a standard 100 sq m two-storey home to be completed from foundations to roof plate in as little as four days.
The Velox building system comprises boards made from 90% reclaimed woodchip and cement, stabilised through a patented mineralisation process to resist humidity, mold, and rodents. These boards form the external and internal walls, ceilings, and roofs, with insulation and a poured concrete core sandwiched between them. The system is versatile, having been used for housing, hotels, apartment blocks, schools, and hospitals, and is scalable from house extensions to 21-storey buildings.
