Established in 1965 as G D Weldon, the company has a long history in civil engineering and construction. Initially undertaking work such as constructing adopted roads and sewers for new housing developments, and factory maintenance contracts, the business has evolved significantly. Mike Cook joined in 1995, becoming a director, and following Gerry Weldon's retirement in 2015, the company continues to grow and develop under the new name M R COOK Construction Ltd.

Now largely concentrating on flood repair work to riverbanks using conventional reinforced concrete construction and gabions, M R Cook Construction also offers expertise in drainage construction, laying concrete slabs, road construction, rights of way construction and maintenance, groundworks for new housing schemes, and installation of sewage treatment plants.
