Working as a subcontractor to the principal contractor, delivering the project was compounded by access issues, a crucial factor in constructing the Academy Teaching block's shell.
Constructed using Insulated Concrete Formwork, this two-story teaching block with high vaulted ceilings capitalises on ICF's structural efficiencies to reduce the amount of structural steel needed if built with traditional masonry.
The refurbishment of a dilapidated school building, with a set end date and no possibility for time overrun, was a real test of our Design, Manage and Construct abilities. Many tendered stating 'the works could not be completed' within the timescale, but we believed it possible.
