Established in 1973 by Rita & Jack Maher, J M Garden and Electrical began as a small hardware store. The business expanded significantly over the years, with the addition of electrical supplies introduced by their son Barrie, an electrical contractor. In 1988, the business expanded its premises to accommodate growth in electrical sales.
By 1990, Barrie and Janette took full control, transforming the upper floors into storage and expanding the yard to stock more gardening products. Seizing an opportunity, Barrie secured contracts to supply local Allotment Societies. Barrie's son, Jon, joined to manage the horticultural side, expanding the product catalogue and customer base across various regions.
Today, the company supplies allotment societies, bowling clubs, landscapers, schools, trade gardeners, and garden centres. The hardware and electrical supplies division continues to thrive, with Barrie's expertise and a team of NICEIC registered electricians handling all types of electrical work.
