The Factory

Warehouse Renovation. Creation of a contemporary warehouse space for residential use and for use as a location for filming and photography.

Dalston Lane

Warehouse Extension and Division. A tight urban site, surrounded by residential and commercial developments and transport infrastructure. The existing two storey building has been extended in multiple directions to create a total of eight units - a mix of residential and commerical. The scheme included exterior spaces for all residential units.

Namumgoona Primary

Uganda

Primary School, Uganda. St Kizito, Namungoona a live project involving a new primary school in the suburbs of Kampala, Uganda. The scheme consists of seven primary classrooms, an early years centre, a modified ventilated improved pit (VIP) toilet system, a kitchen and canteen, a variety of communal outdoor spaces and a large assembly hall. The new school, construction of which is due to start in 2012, will be funded by New York based NGO Bula Inc. In 2011 the project was nominated from a RIBA medal.

Winery West

France

Winery Conversion. The third and final conversion of a series of winery buildings in southern France. Originally the building had no scope for exterior space - the solution involved the removal of a large section of the buildings roof to create a rear, walled courtyard. A swimming poor was created at first / mezzanine level, keeping access to the pool central to all levels within the building. This unusual designed allowed for the inclusion of a window between the living space and the water within the swimming area.

Winery East

France

Winery Conversion. The Winery East apartment provided an excessive living area 200m in size. To ensure that the space was practical and usable, it was necessary to divide the area into a number of habitable zones - offices, cinemas, kitchen, pantry, storage, etc. The large living area faces onto a swimming pool, lines with the original stone pillars that flanked the grape weighing area of the winery. The upper floor was divided up into five bathrooms, accessed via a central hall (lit from above). The design was modified to incorporate the doors and radiators that had been reclaimed from local demolition projects.

The Stable

France

Stable Conversion. This stable building formed part of a former winery dating back to 1802. The property provided a unique setting for a modern home that incorporated all of the building`s original features including 60cm thick stone walls, timber shutters and a tiered garden. 100m2 living area and five bedrooms were created over the to floors of the house, along with a number of feature bathrooms and an infinity pool that overlooked the remainder of the garden.
