About from company website

Five Estuaries is a significant offshore wind farm project located off the coast of north Essex and south Suffolk, building on the legacy of the nearby Galloper Wind Farm. Upon completion, it is projected to generate enough clean electricity to power hundreds of thousands of UK homes annually, thereby reducing the nation's dependence on fossil fuels and lowering carbon emissions. The project is also set to create substantial opportunities for local supply chains, skills development, and job creation, fostering long-term investment in the East of England region.

The project has achieved a major milestone with the Secretary of State for Energy Security & Net Zero awarding development consent on 17 December 2025. This signifies a crucial step towards delivering clean, renewable energy while supporting local communities, generating employment, and bolstering national energy security. The development team has engaged extensively with stakeholders and communities over five years, refining proposals to optimize the project for the site, community, and environment.

RWE Renewables UK is leading the development on behalf of the project partners: RWE, a Macquarie-led consortium, ESB, and Sumitomo Corporation.
