Built in 1750, This Grade II listed Georgian house, with seven bedrooms and five bathrooms spread across two floors, sits on an impressive plot near the village green. The property had once been a charming B&B, but over the years, extensive renovations had stripped away much of its original character. Our clients entrusted us with the task of restoring the home's historic charm while thoughtfully updating it to suit their modern lifestyle. The result is a beautifully balanced space that celebrates the grandeur of Georgian architecture while maintaining a sense of calm and intimacy. While we didn't extend the house, we carefully reconfigured the primary suite to improve flow, creating a more intuitive connection between the dressing room, a new walk-in shower, and a private W/C in the ensuite. We also reinstated a sense of timeless elegance throughout, installing raised and fielded plasterwork panels, designing a bespoke decorative ceiling, and curating an extensive joinery package-including beautifully crafted dressing rooms, a new kitchen, boot and utility rooms, and custom bookshelves in the study. In the dining room, we introduced display shelves with discreet low-level storage, ensuring both beauty and practicality. One of the most striking transformations was the addition of a breathtaking cantilevered limestone staircase, paired with elegant limestone tiles featuring Nero Marquina cabochon inserts in the entrance hall-a true showstopper.
The client instantly fell in love with the home's stunning location but dreamed of transforming its aesthetic into something much lighter, more modern, and full of life. We set out to completely reimagine this townhouse, infusing it with a touch of California cool right in the heart of Belgravia. Inspired by her travels around the Mediterranean, our client wanted a warm, inviting sanctuary that felt both serene and sophisticated. Originally built in the 1980s, the house had outdated architectural elements, ornate cornicing and panelled doors that didn't quite fit the space. We stripped these away and embraced the modern essence of the home, introducing cleaner, more refined detailing. To soften the lateral spaces, we rounded every sharp corner, creating a sense of flow and ease throughout. Wide-plank oak timber flooring was custom-designed to add natural warmth. Frameless doorways and seamless transitions between rooms further enhanced the sense of openness, making the entire space feel effortlessly connected. The heart of this transformation is the breathtaking, custom-carved Travertine bath in the primary ensuite-a true showpiece of the home. Meticulously sculpted from a single 800kg block of Travertine Navona, it was craned into place via the terrace to reach its final home on the fourth floor. Positioned under the window, its elegant ellipsed shape is perfectly embraced by the curved Tadelakt walls, creating a spa-like retreat that feels as luxurious as it is tranquil.
We had the privilege of carrying out an extensive renovation of this stunning South Kensington apartment for our client, who was based overseas at the time. With a demanding career and a significant time difference, she placed her trust in us to manage the build on her behalf to sensitively modernise this charming Grade II listed property while integrating essential contemporary features like air conditioning and security. Every inch of space needed to be thoughtfully designed and meticulously planned to maximize functionality without compromising elegance. The apartment's size posed several challenges, which we tackled with creative, tailored solutions. Our client had only one request: to be completely "wowed." No detail was overlooked, from the super-prime oak herringbone flooring with an ebony inset border to the exquisite bespoke joinery by Lanserring. A highlight of the restoration was the intricate plasterwork-working with a renowned supplier, we meticulously restored the original moulded living room ceiling and designed raised and fielded panels that harmonized beautifully with the home's heritage. Our work extended beyond the internal refurbishment, as we also transformed the apartment's front balcony and its expansive rear terrace-an extraordinary feature in Central London. We laid elegant limestone tiles and reinstated intricate metal railings in keeping with neighbouring properties. The result is a home that feels effortlessly refined, deeply considered, and truly special-a sanctuary in the heart of London, perfectly tailored to our client's vision.
