Isabella Lake Dam
California, United States of America
The Isabella Lake Dam is located 34.80 miles northeast of Bakersfield, California, on the Kern River. The original infrastructure, completed in 1953, comprised a main earthfill dam with a height of 185.04 ft, an auxiliary earthfill dam 100.07 ft high, intake and outlet works, and a service spillway located between the two dams. In 2007, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) imposed operational restrictions on the reservoir due to the need to mitigate significant hydrological, seismic, and internal erosion risks associated with the existing dams and spillway.
