This scheme awarded by transport NI was the largest BRT scheme to date, the purpose of which was to introduce bus lanes along the Upper Newtownards Road between Knock junction and Dunlady Road. Our role was to carry out a wide range of civil engineering tasks including excavation, drainage, ducting and kerbing. We also installed sixty signalised junction upgrades and in excess of one hundred road crossing and installing one hundred and thirty pole housing units. Other tasks completed were road widening and re alignment at Comber Road and Dunlady slip Road. Works also included the extension of two culverts and all temporary installation of sheet piling and dewatering requirements.
The construction of a new road to facilitate new housing development works, involved the follow: Diversion of existing water course, Bulk earth works, Installation of pre case storm water attenuation system, Including all pre cast pipes and manholes up to 3 metres in depth, All service utility ducting, All street lighting, kerbing, and footpath construction, Placing of granular sub base, Preparation of surfacing works. Work also included foundation works for new bridge construction.
Demesne Contracts were initially involved with Montalto Estate on creating the car park, in preparation for the opening to the public. This involved a range of tasks from excavation, drainage, kerbing, and preparation works for surfacing. As the relationship progressed we were awarded the contract to construct 3km of trails and paths and associated works throughout the Estate. We created the paths, with careful planning and a responsible approach to keep minimise the disruption to the ecosystem within the forest. Many other areas of Montalto Estate were also developed by Demesne Contracts, such as the ground works for the new play park, as well as creating lawned areas within the Estate.
This project is a junction upgrade to allow traffic to exit the ramada hotel and rugby club which included the following: Altering of existing Kerb Line, Introduction of control SIGNALED crossing points, resurfacing of existing junction.
