Cornwall Sustainable Building Trust

The Cornwall Sustainable Building Trust (CSBT) is a charity established in 2002, dedicated to creating a Cornwall where all buildings are healthy, sustainable, and life-enhancing. They achieve this by providing advice, guidance, and training in sustainable building practices, developing the green building sector, and supporting the supply chain. CSBT is recognised as a leader in this field in Cornwall, with established partnerships with organisations like Cornwall College, Cornwall Council, and the Eden Project.

Since 2013, they have led three EU-funded Interreg projects, expanding their influence nationally and internationally. CSBT believes that safe and comfortable living and working spaces are essential needs. They advocate for building with thought and care to eliminate waste, creating efficient and healthy environments.

A significant focus is on rectifying the inefficiencies of post-industrial revolution buildings through retrofitting, an area where CSBT takes a leading role. Their vision extends to making hard-to-heat and hard-to-treat homes a thing of the past. Sustain Cornwall Ltd (SCL), a trading arm of CSBT, offers consultancy services including sustainable building design advice, BREEAM assessments, ecological advice, SAP and energy assessments, thermal imaging, air tightness testing, planning advice, local supply chain management, and low-energy building designs.

SCL cedes all profits to support CSBT's unfunded outreach work and collaborates with CSBT's expert Associates to deliver a range of consultancy and delivery services. They aim to promote sustainable building techniques by providing expert knowledge and advice to a diverse client base, including the public sector, developers, contractors, architects, and individuals.
