About from company website

The Cairngorms National Park, established in 2003, is the UK's largest national park at 4,528 sq km, covering 6% of Scotland's land mass. It is renowned for its spectacular landscapes and iconic wildlife, being home to one quarter of the UK's rare and endangered species, with nearly half of its area considered 'wild land'. The park is home to around 18,000 residents across six local authority areas and attracts two million visitors annually.

Its four core aims, set by Scottish Parliament, are to conserve and enhance natural and cultural heritage, promote sustainable resource use, foster public understanding and enjoyment, and promote sustainable economic and social development of its communities. Conservation of heritage is given greater weight in case of conflict with other aims. The National Park Partnership Plan, reviewed every five years and approved by Scottish Ministers, guides the work of all public bodies and partners within the park.

This includes local authorities, NatureScot, Transport Scotland, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, and Skills Development Scotland, as well as private and voluntary organisations. The park's history spans centuries, with evidence of prehistoric life, Pictish inhabitants, clan systems, and significant land-use changes, including the clearances and the rise of tourism in the 19th century.
