Barnhouse started in 2016 as a family-run business built around traditional woodworking and furniture making. Over time, that focus on craftsmanship led us into plastering, particularly lime and traditional methods. Today, Barnhouse focuses on plastering for older buildings and interiors, specialising in lime plastering and traditional finishes, working with the building rather than against it to create surfaces that last and perform as they should.

Our approach is to use breathable materials, especially for older buildings. Using the wrong plaster can trap moisture and lead to damp, cracking, and ongoing issues. Every project is assessed properly so the right system is used from the start.

Whether it's internal lime plastering, external rendering, or repair work, the aim is always the same: do it properly and make it last. We keep things straightforward with clear advice, proper materials, and a high standard of work on every job. From first visit to final finish, everything is done with care and attention to detail.

We offer a range of plastering services including skimming, boarding, drylining, lime plastering, lime rendering, and Venetian decorative finishes. We also provide bespoke heritage features such as hand-run lime cills and moulded details. Our team is experienced in both modern and traditional plastering techniques, ensuring a high-quality, durable finish that elevates any interior.
