Automatic Door Suppliers Association

The Automatic Door Suppliers Association (ADSA) was established in 1985 with the primary goal of setting quality and safety standards for the powered pedestrian door industry. They developed the first industry code of practice, which formed the basis of BS 7036:1988, the national benchmark for automatic, power-operated pedestrian door systems. ADSA continues to be a key contributor to British and European industry standards, working with the British Standards Institution (BSI) to develop codes of practice that ensure powered pedestrian doors are safe, compliant, and efficient.

ADSA also focuses on training and development, offering a range of courses for industry professionals through various platforms, including e-learning via their online Academy, Live Stream, and face-to-face training. They administer Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) cards for eligible individuals within their member organizations and have partnered with the Door and Hardware Federation (DHF) to launch the Entrance Systems Alliance (ESA), providing nationally recognized qualifications and assessments for technician career development. An apprenticeship program is also available for newcomers to the industry.

Their membership comprises manufacturers, suppliers, installers, and service providers of automatic doors, collectively supplying over 80% of the UK market. ADSA provides technical advice to specifiers and customers, along with independent consultancy services for estate audits, reviews, and management reports, ensuring members and clients receive expert guidance on door safety and compliance.
